Landing at Tenerife South Airport. Our plane approached for landing from the South side.
The runway where planes land is situated along the coast. I was seated on the right side of the aircraft and had the impression that the runway bordered the ocean. In reality, it's about 1km away.
This creates an optical illusion because the landing strip is elevated above the ocean, high enough that only the vast ocean is visible beyond the runway. Photos can be found in our gallery.
A flight from Poland (Warsaw Modlin) to Tenerife, part of Spain's Canary Islands, typically takes around 5.5 to 6 hours.
The flight path generally crosses Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, mainland Spain, and Morocco.
During the flight, as the aircraft passed over Morocco, I enjoyed stunning views of the Canary Islands archipelago through the plane window.
After landing, the plane taxied and parked just a few metres from the arrivals hall.
Upon turning on my phone, Google Maps briefly indicated I had landed at Tenerife North Airport, but geolocation quickly updated, placing the pin correctly at Tenerife South Airport.
It's worth noting that only the airport's Wi-Fi network functions within the airport and its immediate vicinity.
This is likely a safety requirement.
Stewards and clear signage then guided me towards baggage claim and document verification.
Upon entering the main terminal, directly ahead after exiting, you'll find the Taxi stand.
To the left, immediately after exiting the arrivals hall, is the public transport bus stop.
Also to the left, after exiting the arrivals hall, you'll find the parking area for tour operator coaches.
