Upon arrival at Tenerife South Airport, visitors will quickly notice regular police patrols.
Having spent three months vacationing in Tenerife myself, I never once felt unsafe. Throughout the island, you'll frequently see police patrol cars cruising the local areas, alongside foot patrols, typically operating in two-person teams. Supplementing this visible presence is an extensive network of surveillance cameras. Naturally, it's always wise to exercise caution and avoid leaving valuables unattended on the beach – they might just 'disappear' – but this is, of course, a common-sense precaution applicable almost anywhere.
